Würzburg Cathedral was one of the most significant Romanesque buildings in Germany. The cathedral as it stands today was built in the 11th century. At nearly 110 meters long, Würzburg Cathedral was one of the largest churches of its time. In the early 18th century, it underwent extensive Baroque renovations. During World War II, the cathedral was severely damaged and later rebuilt.
The reconstruction covered the Romanesque and Gothic periods as well as the 17th-century alterations. Another focus was on visualizing the changes to the choir, the crossing, and the crypt.
