Synagogues - Stainless
steelmodels
Jüdisches Museum Berlin
Completed: 2020
For the new permanent exhibition of the Jewish Museum Berlin (opening August 2020), Architectura Virtualis has prepared the data sets of four synagogues especially for printing in stainless steel. These are the synagogues in Cologne (Glockengasse), Hanover and Plauen (data sets TU Darmstadt, FG Digital Design) as well as the Munich synagogue in Westenrieder Straße. The models were printed in several parts, which were then glued together.
The aim of the exhibition was to present the synagogues as sectional models in a longitudinal direction on turntables. This allows visitors to interactively view the models from the outside and inside. The models, printed in stainless steel, allow an immediate understanding without special protective measures. Even the smallest elements, such as a candlestick with a height of 6 mm and a diameter of 1 mm, are so stable that they cannot be bent or even broken off.
